Maintaining Commercial Tap Systems

Maintaining Commercial Tap Systems

In commercial environments like restaurants, hotels, and office complexes, hands-free sensor taps have become the gold standard. They optimize water consumption and improve sanitary hygiene. However, heavy usage requires regular maintenance to avoid leaks and sensor failures.

1. Calibrating Infrared Sensors

If your taps run continuously or fail to activate, dust or mineral buildup on the infrared sensor lens is the usual culprit. Clean the lens weekly with a soft microfibre cloth.

Avoid using abrasive chemicals or scourers that scratch the glass surface, as this scrambles the sensor signal.

2. Cleaning Solenoid Valve Filters

Sensor taps regulate flow via internal electromagnetic solenoid valves. Debris or scale in the incoming water gets caught in these valves, causing dripping or reduced flow.

Isolate the water supply, extract the solenoid filter mesh, rinse it clean of grit, and reassemble it annually to extend valve life.

Routine inspection of your commercial restroom fittings prevents business closures and plumbing damage. We provide customized maintenance contracts for offices and venues across London.
